Klub 44 hull # 1 “Wasabi”, built for Mr. Dale Williams of San Francisco, was launched and sea-trialed recently in San Francisco Bay. Tim Kernan and Fred Cououble, partners in Kernan Courouble Yacht Design, were on hand for the sea trials. What began as a brisk and foggy bay area morning turned into a beautiful bright day as the new 44 reached under the gate and down the city front, easily hitting speeds in the mid teens with a fresh 16kt breeze. Systems and leads all worked flawlessly and the helm was sweet. Wasabi will now undergo the process of getting tuned up before her first major regatta, the Rolex Big Boat series in September.

Steve Shidler’s 50′ powercat “Water Wizards” just completed a nonstop passage from Long Beach, California to the Panama Canal — a distance of approximately 2800 nautical miles — in just under six days. At an average speed of 20 knots he burned just over twenty gallons per hour. This passage was completed with his wife and two-year-old son onboard. They are next on their way to Valencia, Spain.
The Stealth dinghy was on display at the recent Toronto Boat Show. With an asymetric spinnaker and high aspect ratio main on a carbon rig this boat brings high performance sailing to anyone with access to a car and a nearby body of water.
